  • Wear an all-black outfit. Attach a large red spot of paper or cloth to your outfit over your abdomen. Wear a hat with a black veil over your face. Use old black pantyhose legs stuffed with tissue to create the "extra" spider legs. Connect the ends of the hose together with black string, and connect to your wrists and upper body. • Grim Reaper
  • The Grim Reaper is a classic scary character that makes a great Halloween costume! A Grim Reaper's robe is a fairly simple garment that most people can put together with a minimal amount of sewing. Start with black cloth about twice your height. Cut a hole for your head in the very middle. Put it on so you can judge how to cut the sides to tailor the fit on your body, while leaving wide sleeves over your arms. You'll need to sew or glue a seam up each side and along the underside of each sleeve. Then make a separate hood and cowl with the same cloth (no sewing is necessary, just loop a cord around your neck to hold it in place). For a scythe, cut a blade shape out of cardboard and cover it with foil (optional: add fake blood to the blade). Attach it to a broom handle. Finish off the costume by either wearing a skull mask, or by covering your face with black make-up. Or, you can put a piece of sheer black fabric over your face (so you can see out but your face is obscured).

  • Spider
  • Wear black clothes with white mittens. To make the extra legs, take four large socks or cut off the legs of two pairs of black pantyhose, and stuff them with fiberfill (or use long black balloons). Attach them to your side and hips, and place white gloves on the end of each. Use black string to attach the "legs" to your wrists, so when you raise your arms the "legs" move too.
